Hardee's, Carl's Jr. launch 3-D Web site

29 May 2008

CARPENTERIA, Calif. — CKE Restaurants Inc., parent company of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurant brands, has partnered with U.K.-based ExitReality to offer 3-D technology on both of the chains' Web sites.

Users with the ExitReality browser enhancement can even convert their profile pages on social network platforms such as MySpace into 3-D environments and move around in them as photo-realistic avatars.

Users will be able to download and try the pre-release version of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's 3-D experience by visiting www.carlsjr.com, www.hardees.com, the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's fan profile pages on MySpace, or www.exitreality.com.

Carl's Jr. and Hardee's were the first brand partners of ExitReality, who has since signed on with the social network platform MySpace to unveil ExitReality and the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's 3-D experience.

Using 3-D avatars, a user can don a logo-adorned jacket, meet friends at the Carl's Jr. or Hardee's virtual restaurant or invite friends over to the burger-themed social-network living room. There, they can ride a mechanical bull, play the Burger Slayer game, as well as pick up 3-D widgets such as TVs, arcade games, furniture, and even 3-D living room or restaurant layouts to decorate their own pages.

Burger lovers also can take free Carl's Jr. or Hardee's goods back to their virtual living rooms, including burgers, fries and shakes, or a branded "Time to Eat" clock that sounds an alarm when it's lunchtime. Visitors to decorated profile pages can see the free virtual goods or 3-D widgets and grab a copy to put in their own profile pages in 3-D.
