Bloggers worldwide have criticized Burger King for one of its latest advertising efforts, an ad running in Singapore promoting the BK Super Seven Incher. In the ad, a blond woman looks surprised as she points an elongated sandwich to her open, red-lipsticked mouth.
Bloggers have incorrectly attributed the ad to BKC's U.S. creative agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky.
Bloggers, including Dan Mitchell of Slate's The Big Money, calls the attempt a shameless attempt to evoke oral sex. Ken Wheaton of Advertising Age extends the criticism to the other brands, including Quizno's and Carl's Jr., for their blatant sexual advertising.
Kyle Munzenrieder's Rip Tide blog in the Miami News Times says the ad is not only disgusting but actually seems to miss the young, hungry guy demographic.
I concur.
