OAK BROOK, IL — McDonald's Corp. has announced a global comparable sales increase of 7.7 percent in November. Systemwide sales for McDonald's worldwide restaurants were up 1.9 percent for the month, or 9.6 percent in constant currencies.
U.S. comps were up 4.5 percent in November due, the company said, to the strength of McDonald's breakfast business and the popularity of its chicken line-up.
In Europe, November comps rose 7.8 percent led by France, the U.K. and Russia. In Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA), November comps increased 13.2 percent due to strong sales growth in Japan, Australia and most other countries. Overall, comps were down compared to last year when global comps for the month ended Nov. 30, 2007, were 8.2 percent.
McDonald's tentatively plans to release fourth quarter results before the market opens on Jan. 26, 2009, and will host an investor webcast. This webcast will be broadcast live and available for replay for a limited time thereafter on www.investor.mcdonalds.com.
