IRVINE, Calif. — Taco Bell has named the three best alternative rock bands in its current Feed the Beat program: Hit the Lights, Thousand Foot Krutch and Fireflight.
The three bands are part of Taco Bell's inaugural "Best of the Beat" winners. In addition to $500 in Taco Bell Bucks, these three bands will work with Taco Bell to identify and hire a well-known producer to record a single for them, and the singles will be promoted on www.feedthebeat.com and through in-store efforts in the spring 2009.
Fans in October and November voted for the best from the 100 Feed the Beat bands on Taco Bell's Virtual Music Festival Web site (www.feedthebeat.com). More than 180,000 votes were cast over the past six weeks.
Lima, Ohio-based Hit the Lights has built a strong and loyal fan base worldwide through constant touring since the release of its debut album "This Is A Stickup...Don't Make It A Murder."
Thousand Foot Krutch, started by frontman/songwriter Trevor McNevan, has sold a half-million copies to date of its albums "Set It Off," "Phenomenon," "The Art Of Breaking," and "The Flame in All of Us." The band's hit "Rawkfist" became a sports anthem, being heard everywhere from sports stadiums to commercials.
Fireflight, which self-released an album and EP before debuting nationally with 2006's The Healing of Harms (Flicker), spent years touring on the concert circuit. The title track from the band's recent album "Unbreakable" was selected to air in promotions for NBC's "Bionic Woman," and its music has been featured on E! Entertainment's "Style Network" and "America's Funniest Home Videos."
