LOUISVILLE, Ky. — KFC has announced its unofficial presidential race poll results based on sales figures of its political T-shirts. More than 41 percent of Americans who purchased a KFC Political T bought a "Left Wing" T-shirt, while roughly 29 percent bought a "Right Wing" T-shirt and 30 percent chose a "Left Wing, Right Wing: Tastes the Same to Me" shirt.
KFC sold the T-shirts on its Web site www.kfc.com, as well as in boutiques in each presidential candidate's home states: Akira in Chicago; Divaz Boutique in Tempe, Ariz.; and Grand Central Clothing in Tucson, Ariz. Since August, Americans have bought hundreds of the shirts.
Sales of the T-shirt sales also benefit Colonel's Scholars, a charity program providing college students nationwide with scholarship money.
This fall, through the Colonel's Scholars program, 100 students received up to $20,000 over the next four years to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited public university within his or her home state. All scholarships were awarded based on the impact students had on their schools and communities and their financial need.
