TORONTO, Ontario — Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. has announced the launch of MeatHaiku.com, a light-hearted Web site dedicated to Canadian fans of the Burger King Steakhouse Burger. Consumers can submit a haiku poem expressing their affection for meat on the site.
Haiku is an ancient form of Japanese poetry consisting of a set number of syllables per line: five syllables in the first line, seven in the second line, and five in the third. The website includes haiku samples and an easy-to-use haiku-writing application.
The first 100 Canadians who post their haiku have the chance to win a BK Crown Card gift card loaded with $25 Canadian dollars, redeemable at any participating Burger King location across Canada or the United States.
The tongue-in-cheek website celebrates thearrival of the Burger King Steakhouse Burger, featuring a flame-broiled 100 percent Angus beef patty topped with crispy onions, processed cheddar cheese, steakhouse sauce, lettuce and tomatoes served on a sesame seed bun. The Steakhouse Burger is available across Canada as a permanent menu item for the suggested retail price of $4.49.
