OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's Monopoly Game kicks off today in participating McDonald's restaurants. The 2008 Game runs in participating restaurants through Nov. 3, or while supplies last, and online at PlayatMcD.com through Nov. 17.
New this year, consumers can also enter game codes to play the online game through their mobile phones, sponsored by EA Mobile. Consumers will get a chance to win this year's $1 million grand prize and daily $100,000 prizes online between Oct. 7 through Nov. 3.
Additional $100,000 prizes in-store and opportunities to win millions of prizes and other rewards from this year's promotional partners, including Foot Locker, Shell Oil Products US, My Coke Rewards and Wayport Inc. are also available.
Last year's $1 million winner, Ashley Berry of Humble, Texas, and other past Monopoly winners will appear on packaging, in commercials and online in banner advertisements this year.
Consumers can collect game pieces for the Monopoly 2008 Game at McDonald's on medium and large Fountain Drinks, medium and large Premium Roast Coffee (excluding Iced Coffee and Specialty Coffee beverages), hash browns, Big Mac sandwiches, Angus burger sandwiches (where available), large french fries, premium chicken sandwiches, Southern Style Chicken sandwiches and McSkillet Burritos.
Foot Locker has provided more than 95 million Guaranteed Bonus Game Pieces, which can be found on large french fries, premium chicken sandwiches, Southern Style Chicken sandwiches and McSkillet Burritos. Each Guaranteed Bonus Game Piece carries either a chance to win a $1,000 Foot Locker Shopping Spree, or a discount up to 25 percent off any Foot Locker purchase.
Every 15 minutes online, McDonald's will be giving away a $50 Shell Refillable Gift Card, while also giving consumers the chance to receive bundles of 25 points to redeem for prizes at MyCokeRewards.com. Winners who land on "GO" in the online game will get connected with one hour of free Wi-Fi from Wayport Inc. at McDonald's 10,000 Wi-Fi enabled restaurants.
The Monopoly 2008 Game at McDonald's is open to residents of the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa and Canada. The online game is only available in the United States.
