WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. has rolled out football doughnuts in time for the season opener.
 
The doughnuts are cut into small football shapes, and then topped with chocolate icing and decorated with white laces. The doughnuts can be customized with specific team colors.
 
Krispy Kreme also is offering tailgate packs, which include one dozen football doughnuts and one dozen of Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed.
 
Football doughnuts are available until Sept. 30. Beginning Oct. 1, football doughnuts will be available only on weekends until Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009. Team color football doughnuts can be ordered at no additional cost by calling a participating Krispy Kreme store at least 48 hours in advance.
