Washington Post: Despite increasing food costs and a slumping economy Larry Feldman, one of Subway restaurants' most successful franchisees, says business is excellent.

Feldman just opened his 1,019th shop in the mid-Atlantic region. Next month in Alexandria, Va., he will open the first Subway Cafe, a new upscale concept that is a hybrid sandwich shop and coffee bar. The store will feature brick or wood-paneled walls, comfortable armchairs, gelato, baked goods and panini.
