CARPINTERIA, Calif. — Same-store sales for CKE Restaurants Inc., parent company of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's chains, increased 1.8 percent for the 2009 first quarter ended May 19, 2008. Same-store sales increased 3.9 percent at Carl's Jr. and fell 0.6 percent at Hardee's company-operated restaurants.
Same-store sales increased 2.6 percent in period 5. Same-store sales at Carl's Jr. restaurants increased 2.5 percent, while Hardee's same-store sales increased 2.6 percent.
Revenue for the first quarter was $466.2 million, off 3 percent from the prior year's first quarter. Net income for the quarter was $16.6 million, up from $15.4 million in the same quarter last year.
CKE will report same-store sales results for period six of fiscal year 2009 on or about July 23, 2008, the company said.
As of the end of its fiscal 2009 first quarter, CKE Restaurants Inc. operated restaurants in 42 states and in 13 countries, including 1,162 Carl's Jr. restaurants and 1,923 Hardee's restaurants.
