MILFORD, Conn. — Subway restaurants recently announced its new $5 footlong promotion, which began March 24.

The offer gives customers up to a 25-percent discount off the footlong subs. According to a news release, the special offer is the chain's way of thanking consumers for making Subway footlong sandwiches No. 1 globally. In the past 12 months, Subway restaurants have sold enough footlong sandwiches to wrap around the globe almost six times.

The offer on any regular $5 footlong sub is available at participating Subway restaurants nationwide.
