McDonald's recognized for diversity

OAK BROOK, Ill. — For the third consecutive year, McDonald's Corp. is being recognized by Black Enterprise magazine for its company-wide commitment to diversity. Black Enterprise named McDonald's as one of the "40 Best Companies for Diversity" in its July 2007 issue.
According to the magazine, McDonald's excelled in four key categories: supplier diversity, senior management, board of directors and employee base. McDonald's also received the highest mark in the advertising diversity rating category, which assesses advertising dollars spent through media targeting black and ethnic minority audiences.
"At McDonald's valuing and leveraging diversity is crucial to the success of our business and it's an important part of our culture," said Don Thompson, president of McDonald's USA.
"We continually strive to achieve an environment where everyone feels valued, accepted and rewarded," Thompson said. "That dedication and unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion allows us to recognize and appreciate the contributions that all individuals bring to our system including our employees, our franchisees and our suppliers."
McDonald's spent more than $4 billion with minority suppliers in 2006. The National Black McDonald's Operators Association (NBMOA) is the largest black franchisee organization, representing more than 335 franchisees and 1,200 restaurants located throughout the United States.
