IRVINE, Calif. — EPL Intermediate Inc., parent company of El Pollo Loco Inc., reported same-store sales increased 2.4 precent for the first quarter ended March 28. 
 
Company-operated same-store sales increased 0.8 percent and franchise restaurant comps increased 3.9 percent for the quarter. 
  
El Pollo Loco reported 1Q operating revenue of $66.8 million, up 5.8 percent from $63.2 million reported for the same period last year.
 
Net income increased 9.3 percent to $7.8 million, up from $7.1 million in 1Q '06.
