LOUISVILLE, Ky. — According to a survey by Boston-based public relations firm Schneider Associates, KFC Famous Bowls were ranked as the year's Most Memorable New Product Launch of 2006.
The survey asked more than 1,000 consumers for their thoughts on the top new products. KFC Famous Bowls garnered 24 percent of the vote, beating out products from major brands, including gaming systems and other quick-service restaurants.
The KFC Famous Bowls were launched in KFC restaurants in May 2006. KFC Famous Bowls feature layers of mashed potatoes, sweet corn and bite-sized crispy chicken, drizzled with home-style gravy and topped with a three-cheese blend.
More than 81 million KFC Famous Bowls, which retail for $3.99 each at participating restaurants, have been sold since the product was introduced.
"KFC Famous Bowls combine the best of our menu into portable comfort food, and it's gratifying to see that we've made such an impression on consumers with our layers of flavors," said James O'Reilly, chief marketing officer for KFC. "We're hoping to repeat this year's top ranking with another upcoming new product launch, which is an exciting twist on our Famous Bowls."
