• California Senate tackles food-labeling legislature

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Senate Health Committee will begin a hearing March 14 on SB 120, a bill that will offer citizens basic nutritional labeling information in chain and fast-food restaurants.
 
According to the California Center for Public Health Advocacy, the bill's sponsor, fast food and other restaurants are exempt from national nutritional labeling laws. 
 
Experts expected to testify during the hearing include Sen. Alex Padilla, the bill's author, and representatives from CCPHA and the American Heart Association, according to a news release.
