Gloucester Times (N.C.): Wok International, a chain of 10 Chinese and Japanese restaurants in shopping mall food courts in five states, is trying the bamboo plates as an environmentally friendly alternative to polystyrene.
 
An estimated 438 billion disposable food and drink containers are used annually around the world, said Katherine Madison, a representative of Eatware, which manufactures the biodegradable plates used at Sino Wok.
