Chicago Tribune: Bill Ackman, a principal of New York-based Pershing Square Capital Management LP, has increased his stake in the company to 18.5 million shares, up from 300,000 shares. Ackman, who now owns 1.5 percent of the fast-food giant, is pressuring McDonald's to sell off underperforming restaurants in order to boost the company's stock price.
