SMITHFIELD, Va. — Subway Restaurants has entered into a licensing agreement with Smithfield Deli Group, a division of meat processor Smithfield Foods Inc., to launch a line of Subway-branded deli meats and cheeses in the United States.

Beginning this month, Smithfield Deli Group will launch a one-year test of Subway-branded deli meats and cheeses to be offered within full-service deli counters at retailers and grocery stores nationwide.

Subway-branded products will initially be available at Pathmark grocery stores in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas. The program is expected to expand to other mass retailers and grocery stores throughout the first half of the year.
