SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One hundred twenty-eight Taco Bell restaurants in the Northern California region participated in a one-day fundraiser Sept. 19 to benefit teen programs at local Boys & Girls Clubs.
According to a news release, the "Taco Bell for Teens" Day awarded 10 percent of the day's proceeds, as well as a matching donation from the Taco Bell Foundation, to fund late-night recreation programs at the 12 local Boys & Girls Clubs.
According to a news release, the funds will go to Late Night weekend programs, such as dances, sports tournaments, poetry slams and open-mike nights, specifically designed for 13- to 18-year-olds. The funds will also go to Boys & Girls Club programs that emphasize character and leadership development, community service opportunities and job skills programming.
"Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment for teens and positive alternatives to drugs, gangs and other undesirable activities," said Kim Williams, director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sacramento. "With the help of longtime supporters like Taco Bell and their customers, we can make a difference in teens' lives."
