NEW YORK — Tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams announced plans for the third annual McDonald's Williams Sisters Tour to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
On the one-year anniversary (Aug. 29, 2005), the Williams and the USTA will remember the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina during a special center court ceremony.
According to a news release, the sisters will participate in the McDonald's Williams Sisters Tour later this year in conjunction with World Children's Day at McDonald's which benefits RMHC and other children's organizations around the world.
The tour will visit New Orleans Dec. 5 where an exhibition tennis match between the sisters, as well as celebrity musical performances will be held at the New Orleans Arena. During the day, the sisters will also participate in a variety of community and charitable activities to assist in raising awareness and funds for local relief efforts. A portion of the proceeds from the New Orleans exhibition that evening will benefit Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
