• Skippers Chowder implements trans-fat-free frying oil

EDMONDS, Wash. — Skippers Chowder and Seafood House, a 60-store QSR chain in the Northwest, has switched to trans-fat-free cooking oil.
 
According to a news release, the QSR is switching to Wesson Trans Fat-Free Frying Oil in an effort to significantly reduce the presence of trans-fatty acids on its menu. The new cottonseed- and canola-based oil is a non-hydrogenated cooking oil that has 0g trans fat per serving and is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acid.
 
Skippers said it is making this change system-wide. The oil will be used for the company's wild-caught fish fillets, fried shrimp and fries.
