CARPINTERIA, Calif. — CKE Restaurants reported a strong first quarter for the 16 weeks ended May 22.
 
Same-store sales increased 5.6 percent at both Carl's Jr. and Hardee's company-owned stores. The company reported net income was $16.2 million on revenue of $488.5 million.
