OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's Corporation announced that systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 5.5 percent in April. Global comparable sales rose 6.2 percent for the month.
 
According to a news release, U.S. comparable sales increased 4.7 percent. McDonald's chief executive Jim Skinner credited the successful month to the company enhancing consumer relevance and the chicken sandwich.
