TULSA, Okla. — McDonald's Tulsa-area restaurants are attracting customers through cell phone promotions. According to a news release, the effort is the first cell phone and Internet-based promotion in the Midwest.
The "Mobile Whoa" promotion has three ways customers can get involved: a mobile scavenger hunt, the mCoup mobile coupon and the camera phone and Web site picture gallery.
According to a news release, customers can text message "hunt 62931" or register online at mobilewhoa.com to receive a series of clues and enter the scavenger hunt. Once the participant has solved the first clue, they'll receive another — and another until they have solved the scavenger hunt.
mCoup registrants will receive a cell phone text message good for a free small order of fries or hash brown redeemable at any Northeast Oklahoma McDonald's.
For the amateur photographer and music lover, players will score free music ring tones and wallpapers just for snapping pictures of themselves and friends. According to the release, customers will receive a code on their phones to download a free ring tone or wallpaper. The photos will be posted in a photo gallery online at mobilewhoa.com.
"McDonald's is always adopting new ways to be relevant to our customers, sometimes using the latest technology to fit their on-the-go lifestyles," said Kevin Hern, McDonald's Tulsa area Owner/Operator. "The 'mobilewhoa' program is a nice complement to the wireless Internet launch in all Oklahoma restaurants last year. This program is significant because it allows us to communicate with our customers in yet another way. We love bringing new ideas to Tulsa because the customers here make everything a success."
