Long-term investors notice consistency. And no QSR menu item has been more consistent than the burger. Although gourmet coffee and organic food have been among the latest trends, the burger joints still give Americans what they want.

In its annual forecast of the industry, the National Restaurant Association estimates that Americans will spend $142 billion on QSR food in 2006.
