MIAMI (June 4) - Burger King Corp. is testing 24-hour-a-day operations at 63 units in Colorado, according to chief executive Brad Blum. Separately, the company said May same-store sales had jumped 10.1 percent at company-owned units and increased 7.2 percent at U.S. franchised stores. The company said those results were the highest since November 1999 and the fourth consecutive month of positive same-store sales growth. "We are starting to build momentum," said Burger King chief executive Brad Blum. "It is not just one thing but a combination of factors that are creating the brand momentum." He cited new products, such as Fire-Grilled Salads and the Angus Steak Burger, improved restaurant operations and better marketing. Blum added that BK, which operates and franchises 7,656 quick-service units in the United States, would launch more new products in the fall but declined to provide details.
