Baskin-Robbins seems to have figured out a tricky Japanese market. It recently marked the opening of its 1,000 store there. The grand opening at the new store in Decks Tokyo Beach was held in June.
The new shop features the full Baskin-Robbins menu, including its signature ice cream, sundaes and ice cream cakes. It also offers popular local flavors such as Popping Shower, a white chocolate and crème de menthe flavor with pop rocks; Matcha, which is green tea flavor; and Musk Melon, according the company.
Baskin-Robbins’ Japanese partner, B-R 31 Ice Cream Company Ltd., opened its first shop in 1973. Baskin-Robbins has been on the international scene since 1970 and now includes more than 6,200 locations in 35 countries.
Its 1,000-store milestone in Japan is a testament to the brand’s international popularity. Other QSR brands have recently struggled in that specific market, including McDonald’s, which announced earlier this year that it was closing more than 400 stores in Japan.
