In keeping with the latest theme of menu labeling, a handful of quick-service restaurants in China have joined a campaign to label nutritional information on their menu items.
According to the China Post, eight restaurants - including McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Napoli Pizza, T.K.K. Fried Chicken, 21 Century Fried Chicken and Burger King - have joined the Taipei County Government in implementing the campaign.
Participating chains are required to indicate calorie, protein, fat, sodium and carbohydrate contents on packaging.
The initial program will run through the end of 2010, and then be implemented throughout the rest of the country beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
After Jan. 1, restaurants failing to comply will be fined by the Taipei County Government.
