Arby's eyes Hoosier State growth

When Roland Smith took over as president and CEO of Wendy's/Arby's Group earlier this year, he outlined an extensive overhaul plan to rebound negative sales at Arby's Restaurants. Within that plan was an investment in a "significant remodeling program."
Smith has so far stayed true to his word. Arby's has started by investing $1.5 million in renovations at five Indiana locations. It plans to make $100 million worth of store upgrades nationwide throughout the next three years.
The Hoosier State is a great fit for the company's turnaround strategy. Arby's first restaurant opened in Indianapolis in 1977.
The Indiana renovations are set to be finished by September in the following cities:
- Indianapolis
- Franklin
- Anderson
- Greensburg
- Connersville
The company has chosen a design plan called "Pinnacle," which includes more contemporary components.
"Even though we’re in a difficult economy, the time is right to update the restaurants and reinvest in the community," said Luke Pisors, Sr. Director of Operations for Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc.
