Mrs. Fields has returned to Columbus, Ohio. Sunny Street Cafe, a breakfast-lunch chain located within the city's bustling Arena District, is co-branding with Mrs. Fields to boost its dessert, catering and gift offerings.
The Mrs. Fields' on-site bakery will include cookies, brownies, big cookie cakes and Nibblers bite-size cookies. Additionally, to cater to the local crowd in the Ohio State University's hometown, it will sell the Buckeye Cookie, a peanut butter cookie dipped in milk chocolate.
Mrs. Fields has been absent from the Columbus area for a few years, having departed from the now non-existent City Center Mall. This announcement comes a few months after the company announced an aggressive expansion plan.
The Sunny Street Cafe unit, which opens Oct. 13, will be the only Mrs. Fields location within 100 miles of Ohio's capital city.
The co-branding, if successful, could lead to more rollouts nationwide, according to a company statement. Sunny Street Cafe operates 14 franchised locations in Ohio, Texas, Kansas and Missouri.
"We are excited to bring Mrs. Fields back to Columbus," said Scott Moffitt, president of Sunny Street Cafe. "The Arena District restaurant is an ideal location to expand our chain's gifting and catering business, which is a key to our growth. We are close to many businesses and offer expanded hours for evening downtown sporting events."
The Arena District is home to Nationwide Arena, which hosts Columbus Blue Jackets NHL games, as well as many big-name concerts and other events.
