Since the Double Down debuted in Canada on Oct. 18, it has thus far sold more than 350,000 sandwiches, making it the best-selling item in KFC Canada restaurants' history.
"Double Down is a monster success for KFC Canada and our customers," said Dan Howe, CMO for Yum! Brands Restaurants.
Alberta and Manitoba units are selling the most Double Downs.
"Canadians begged KFC Canada to bring the Double Down north of the border and it's been our No. 1 customer service request for months," said Howe.
A survey showed that 64 percent of Canadians wanted KFC to bring the Double Down to the country.
Known as the world's first bunless sandwich, the KFC Double Down features two pieces of Original Recipe chicken, two pieces of bacon and Pepper Jack cheese topped with the Colonel’s secret sauce. This savory sandwich has brought some controversy with it. Some fear the sandwiches' 540 calories, 1740 grams of sodium and 30 grams of fat is too unhealthy.
