Dunkin’ Donuts has long been a morning staple for its coffee as much as for its famous Munchkins.
Consumers may soon be able to enjoy that distinguished java at home. A handful of markets are currently testing “Dunkin’ One Cup” single-cup packaged coffee that can be brewed with most equipment.
The product is designed specifically for use in single cup pod brewers such as Mr. Coffee, Senseo, Cuisinart, Black and Decker, Home Café, Hamilton Beach and Melitta.
According to McCall Gosselin, public relations manager at Dunkin’ Brands Inc., the company is working with franchisees in select stores in a few markets geographically dispersed across the Dunkin’ Donuts system. Testing markets include a small portion of units in Northeast Massachusetts.
The One Cup pods feature authentic Dunkin’ Donuts ground coffee, pre-measured and contained in a round, sealed, filter paper pouch intended for a single serving. It is available in five flavors, including:
- Original Blend
- Dunkin’ Decaf
- Dunkin’ Dark
- Hazelnut
- French Vanilla
Currently, the pods are sold at select restaurants, not online or at other retail locations. They retail for $3.99 per eight-serving box.
Moving forward, the company plans to gauge the test run before deciding whether or not to roll out the product system-wide. Dunkin’ Donuts has created a website for the One Cup, with brewing tips, a FAQ section and profiles of each flavor. For more information, visit www.dunkinonecup.com.
