Krispy Kreme has opened its first unit in Philadelphia. The new store, located in Fox Chase, features all of the Krispy Kreme classics, including the Original Glazed doughnuts, coffee and espresso drinks.
It also offers new items such as the Baked Creations line, with bagels, muffins and cinnamon rolls.
The store will have a 24-hour drive-thru.
To promote the grand opening, which took place Nov. 9, the first customer through the door received free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every week for a year; the subsequent 11 customers received an Original Glazed doughnut every month for a year; and the first 100 customers received an official Krispy Kreme Philly T-shirt.
Krispy Kreme will donate a portion of its proceeds to the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.
Fans in Philadelphia can receive an e-coupon for a free doughnut by becoming a "Krispy Kreme Philly Insider" online.
