Menu boards at Burger King restaurants throughout the United Kingdom are about to feature a sharper image. The company has selected LG Electronics and Instoremedia to install LCD menu screens in select Burger King units.
The partnership offers either six LG 42-inch screens, LG 37-inch screens or LG 42-inch screens.
The commercial LCD flat screen panels run animations, tax information and other content and are mounted over the counter. They are controlled by three Instoremedia DUAL Players.
With the Instoremedia solution, Burger King employees can update animations and prices in a variety of formats, including MPEG, Flash and Silverlight.
The Instoremedia Digital Signage solution was named the Microsoft .NET winner for Best Consumer Impact in 2006.
The digital menu boards will replace the company’s traditional translate displays, and the rollout is anticipated to drive sales, increase flexibility and reduce operating costs.
The agreement between Burger King, LG Electronics and Instoremedia comes not long after more than 700 BK units in the United Kingdom installed digital menu boards deployed by Scala. The outlets receiving these systems are operated by SSP.
SSP’s new system features high-definition graphics and texts that are able to target specific demographics. The rollout was implemented by SSP, with help from Signature Digital Menus Ltd., also to increase sales, lower costs for signage and improve management or prices, dayparts and promotions.
Since its first digital menu board was installed in 2009, SSP has yielded as much as a 63-percent sales increase for some Burger King items.
Meanwhile, stateside, a Chicago-area Burger King franchisee first installed a Daktronics Inc.'s Visiconn Internet-based digital signage management solution in July.
