McDonald’s Holdings Co. Ltd., in Japan, announced it is expecting a record sales year for 2010.
According to Japan Today, the company attributes the boost to the “Big America” series of hamburgers, which were introduced shortly after the new year.
The lineup focused on four LTO Quarter Pounders, including the Texas Burger, the New York, The California and the Hawaiian.
The Texas Burger was topped with barbecue sauce, crispy fried onions, bacon and cheese. The New York included a mustard sauce, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Monterey Jack cheese. The California was made with a red-wine sauce, Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and bacon. And the Hawaiian featured a fried egg, bacon, cheese and lettuce with a cheese-topped bun.
The regular Quarter Pounder was introduced in Japan in late 2008.
Also, sales of the “iCon Chicken” series of chicken items introduced in the summer helped projections.
Interestingly, in February 2010, McDonald’s Japan announced its plans to close more than 400 stores, a decision that was made specifically to increase overall profitability and enhance customer experience.
