Burger King Corp. has introduced its new Jalapeño & Cheddar BK Stuffed Steakhouse burger.
The new item features bits of jalapeño peppers and cheddar cheese packed inside a flame-broiled burger and topped with creamy poblano sauce, tomatoes and lettuce served on a bakery bun.
The limited-time offer is available at a suggested retail price of $3.99 at participating restaurants nationwide.
“Our guests have expressed their love for our quality burgers, and we know that they enjoy the bold combination of spicy and cheesy in a big way,” said Jonathan Muhtar, vice president, global product marketing and innovation, Burger King Corp. “With our first ever stuffed sandwich, we’re giving our guests what they want – juicy 100-percent beef infused with jalapeños and cheddar for an experience you can see and taste in every bite.”
Broiler supported
Burger King has been testing stuffed burgers for about a year. The item was brought to fruition courtesy of a new flexible broiler rolled out to U.S. BK units. The proprietary broiler helps provide creative menu innovations, including extra thick burgers, because of its technology and size.
The state-of-the-art equipment is the heart of Burger King restaurant kitchens. The broiler, supplied by either Nieco Automatic Broilers or Duke Manufacturing, features a batch component that can cook up to eight Whopper patties at once. The oven's control system cycles the amount of heat used during the cooking process based on parameters designed for the specific product, convenient for stuffed burger items.
The company has been testing a variety of products with this equipment rollout, including snacks and flame-kissed desserts.
Advertising campaign
Starting Jan. 17, national TV advertising will showcase the new burger’s quality ingredients and innovative build.
Burger King is also invited Facebook fans to “stuff” BK restaurants in three markets. During the promotion at a set time and date, customers who stop by a specific restaurant can enjoy a free Jalapeño & Cheddar BK Stuffed Steakhouse burger and other free giveaways while supplies last.
