McDonald’s Korea plans to double its units throughout the country within the next five years.

Sean Newton, McDonald’s Korea CEO, announced the company’s expansion plans Monday, which entails a $449 million investment. According to Korea Joongang Daily, the goal is to open 243 new restaurants by 2015, most of which will be franchised and will feature drive-thru components.

Newton said that Korea is one of the top five priority markets for the Chicago-based company. The country is “economically advanced” however quick-service expansion is one-third of the rate it is in countries such as France and the United Kingdom.

McDonald’s Korea was established in 1988. Many restaurants now include components such as delivery and 24-hour locations.
