Jack Daly, chief communications officer for McDonald's Corporation, died Saturday at the age of 62 after a battle with cancer.
According to Chicago Breaking Business, Daly had worked for the quick-service company for almost 20 years, most recently overseeing the global public relations team.
He was named senior vice president of corporate communications at the company in 2002, helping McDonald's turn around negative publicity stemming from the book "Fast Food Nation" and movie "Super Size Me."
Daly also suggested the company issue its first official report in 2002, and was actively involved in Ronald McDonald House charities.
Prior to his career at McDonald's, Daly served as press secretary to Ohio's governor and as a sports reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
He founded J. Daly & Associates in 1983. Four years later, he became vice president of Golin/Harris' McDonald's account and then eventually moved on to become vice president of public affairs for Taco Bell before joining McDonald's in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Gail and three sons, Brendan, Patrick and Evan.
