British invasion: Chains roll out royal wedding-inspired LTOs

While the entire world awaits the April 29 nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton, some American chains are rolling out limited-time culinary confections in celebration of the royal wedding.

Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts will sell the Royal Wedding Donut – a heart-shaped creation filled with jelly and covered with vanilla icing and chocolate drizzle – from April 24-29. Suggested retail price is 89 cents.

Dunkin' Donuts' sister company, Baskin-Robbins, also is selling a commemorative LTO Royal Wedding ice cream cake. The item will be topped with white and blue roses to emulate an English garden.

According to the Boston Globe, the chains' celebration of this specific occasion comes directly from the boss' desk – Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis is British born.

Papa John's creates wedding portrait

Papa John's is gearing up for the big day by breaking out its artistic side. The Louisville, Ky.-based company commissioned a unique portrait pizza of Prince William and Kate Middleton to celebrate their upcoming wedding.

Papa John's worked with a food artist in the United Kingdom to create the topping mosaic pizza. Middleton's veil is made from mushrooms and her dress from cheese, while the prince's morning suit consists of salami and peppers.

"Royal Wedding fever is sweeping the world so we couldn't resist having some fun and creating our very own pizza portrait of Kate and William to celebrate their forthcoming marriage," said Andrew Varga, Papa John's chief marketing officer. "Like our original crust pizza, our royal portrait is made from 100-percent fresh dough and quality ingredients, so it tastes as good as it looks."

Customers in the U.K. who are interested in purchasing this one-of-a-kind creation should email weddingpizza@papajohns.co.uk. The opportunity is limited to the U.K.

Cold Stone Creamery Canada copies reception cake

Cold Stone Creamery locations in Canada can enjoy a new signature creation inspired by the chocolate biscuit cake specifically requested by Prince William to be served at the royal reception.

The new Royal Wedding Bliss combines chocolate ice cream with yellow cake, dark chocolate shavings and fudge.

"We're happy to join the rest of the world in celebrating the upcoming royal wedding," said Andrea Hughes from Cold Stone Creamery Canada. "Not everyone is invited, but we hope Royal Wedded Bliss will make Canadians feel like they're one of the royal guests."

Royal Wedded Bliss will be available for special order for a limited time at 100 Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada where Cold Stone Creamery's ultimate ice cream is sold.
