Yogurt Mountain LLC customers and employees raised $15,020 for its "Have a Heart" promotion from Jan. 26-Feb. 14.
The promotion was held to raise money for the American Heart Association. Customers donated $1 to personally sign Valentine's Day cards displayed on store walls.
The chain also promoted the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign by offering a discount to customers wearing red on Feb. 2, which was National Wear Red Day. Donations to the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women fund research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
Yogurt Mountain CEO and founder David Kahn presented a check to representatives of the American Heart Association on April 14, at a Birmingham, Ala. unit.
"Go Red For Women celebrates women taking control of their heart health," said Nicole Thurston Abdou, communications director for the Greater Southeast Affiliate of the AHA. "Heart disease is the leading cause of death among all Americans. Yogurt Mountain's charitable donation will help fund more research and awareness programs to combat this growing health problem."
Yogurt Mountain has 25 stores across the Southeast.
