Although a handful of franchisees already offer avocado as a sandwich topping option, Subway will rollout the item nationwide next week.

According to USA Today, Subway will offer a Turkey and Bacon Avocado sandwich to promote the preservative-free, 100-percent avocado spread.

Adding the spread as a sandwich option will add between 50 cents and $1 to a ticket. The option will also be available on Subway's breakfast menu.

Subway will complement the rollout with TV spots featuring Olympians Michael Phelps and Apolo Ohno.
