Wendy's Father's Day promotion was named "Golden Tweet" of the year by Twitter, as part of the social media site's Year in Review series. The Golden Tweet is awarded to the most retweeted message of the year.
Wendy's tweet was originally sent June 15 and read: "RT for a good cause. Each retweet sends 50c to help kids in foster care. #TreatItFwd."
The ad was part of an annual campaign to raise money for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The effort raised $50,000 for foster children.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter won't disclose how many times Wendy's message was retweeted.
On Thursday, Wendy's tweeted "It's an honor to have the most re-tweeted post of the year! Thanks everyone who helped a great cause!"
McDonald's and Starbucks products were among the hottest food and drink topics on Twitter in 2011, which included:

- Devassa Beer
- Mac & Cheese
