For the third consecutive year, more than 800 McDonald's restaurants across Florida will provide a free breakfast to public school students on the first day of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT), April 16.
That day, local students in grades 3 through 11 will receive a complimentary Egg McMuffin, apple slices and choice of 1 percent low-fat white milk, fat-free chocolate milk or orange juice at any participating McDonald's location.
"Whether students eat at home, at their school or at McDonald's, it's important for children to eat breakfast as it may improve performance at school," said Cindy Goody, PhD, senior director of Nutrition for McDonald's USA.
McDonald's 120 Florida franchise owners have committed to the giveaway. In 2011, more than 120,000 students across the state received a free McDonald's breakfast prior to taking the FCAT.
