Shoney's new concept – Shoney's On The Go – hosted a Grand Opening celebration today in Houston.
Shoney's On-The-Go was designed for busy Americans and includes the 65-year-old brand's signature breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. It also includes drive-thru and dine-in options.
Included on the menu are the All-American Burger, grilled and crispy chicken sandwiches, in-house hand-breaded chicken tenders baskets, Slim Jim Sandwich, Pile O' Shrimp, made-from-scratch breakfast biscuit sandwiches, fruit smoothies, real ice cream hand-dipped milkshakes, strawberry pie and the original hot fudge cake.
"Our mission has been to restore the great American Shoney's brand to its glory days once again. And I believe a fast casual version of the iconic brand is a necessity to address America's fast-paced lifestyle. Having operated other restaurants locally for over 10 years, I know Houston is the perfect place to open the first of many more Shoney's On the Go restaurants," said CEO David Davoudpour.
The company plans to open more than 50 Shoney's On The Go units throughout the greater Houston area within the next five years.
"Anyone with hectic schedules, from professionals, busy students, young families, to area shoppers, will find our new Shoney's On The Go restaurant a great place to grab a fresh bite for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even late night at affordable prices. What differentiates Shoney's On The Go from other brands is that our fresh quality food is prepared using state-of-the-art equipment within 3 minutes," Davoudpour said.
Shoney's casual dining restaurant includes nearly 200 restaurants in 17 states.
