During the week of Sept. 17-23, all McDonald's locations in the Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia region will send crew members to volunteer at local charities.
The inaugural McDonald's Community Crew Week will feature more than 350 local McDonald's crew members providing more than 2,700 volunteer hours.
"Community service and giving back to the community have always been priorities for McDonald's," said Rick Rehak, regional marketing director. "By combining the efforts of McDonald's restaurants from Buffalo, N.Y. to Beckley, W.Va., we hope to make a strong impact across the region."
McDonald's personnel have been reaching out to local non-profit organizations to identify a wide range of volunteer opportunities for crew members. Charities benefitting from the first McDonald's Community Crew Week include: Ronald McDonald House Charities, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, The American Red Cross, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and several local food banks, hospitals, libraries and animal shelters.
"We're sending our best, most energetic McDonald's crew members to volunteer at the non-profit organizations that provide the most valuable services to our local communities," Rehak said.
The week of Sept. 17 was chosen as McDonald's Community Crew Week to coincide with McDonald's national internal effort called National People Week, a weeklong celebration of McDonald's outstanding managers and crew members.
