As the single-serve coffee segment accelerates from Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks' K-Cup presence, Tim Hortons is now set to compete for its share of the Canadian market. Tim Hortons has partnered with Kraft Foods' Tassimo brand to launch Tassimo T Discs in time for the holiday season.
The single-serve coffee line is now available at nearly 3,000 Tim Hortons restaurants, at tassimo.ca and at timhortons.com.
According to a company news release, more than 1 million Tassimo home brewing systems have been purchased in Canada to date and Tim Hortons represents approximately eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold outside the home in that country.
To celebrate the launch, the Tassimo team is serving 400,000 free Tim Hortons Tassimo coffees across Canada between now and the end of the year. Visit tassimo.ca to see the tour schedule.
Every T Disc features a unique barcode with brewing instructions. The Tassimo brewing system ranges in price from $79 to $249. Tim Hortons Tassimo T Discs are available in three varieties: premium blend ($8.99), decaf ($9.49) and latte (10.99).
The single-serve coffee market is currently experiencing triple-digit growth in North America.
