Taco Bell jumped on its social media pages Thursday to drop a big hint about its next big launch — the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco.
The brand's Facebook and Twitter pages both included a photo of a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos alongside a taco with the comment: "Anything could happen in 2013."
When QSRweb retweeted the post asking if we will see the new offering this year, Taco Bell responded with: "All signs point to yes."
Granted, "2013" is a big time frame to speculate specifics, but that hasn't diminished the excitement of fans. Taco Bell's post generated nearly 100,000 likes and 6,000 comments in less than a day. There are now more than 115,000 likes. Some of the comments include: "Yes please," "About time!" and "If they make this taco bell will become god of the fast food world."
Taco Bell has been testing the Cool Ranch version of the Doritos Locos Taco for a few months in select markets, including in Ohio.
Taco Bell is also testing Flamas Doritos Tacos in unspecified markets.
These offerings come on the heels of March 2012's launch of Doritos Locos Tacos, the brand's most successful product launch ever. In July, Taco Bell's parent company Yum! Brands attributed its 13 percent same-store sales boost mostly to the launch.
