Cousins Subs restaurants has established The Make it Better Foundation to "improve the welfare and quality of life in the communities it serves."
"Cousins Subs has a longstanding tradition of commitment to the communities we serve," said Christine Specht, president and COO at Cousins Subs. "We have supported a multitude of causes and organizations throughout our 40-year history. By establishing The Make It Better Foundation, we hope we can do even more."
The Make it Better Foundation has three focus causes: Health and wellness, hunger and youth education. Interested nonprofit and community organizations can visit Cousinssubs.com/foundation to find out more information on eligibility and how to apply. Completed applications will be reviewed, and grants announced, on a quarterly basis.
The Make It Better Foundation has already awarded four $500 scholarships to Milwaukee Area Technical College students for their photography contributions used to create a foundation display for viewing in each Cousins Subs location. Additionally, the foundation is sponsoring the Wisconsin Sports Awards Scholarship Competition, which honors outstanding high school athletes and provides scholarship awards totaling $12,000 to qualified seniors.
"I'm pleased to announce that The Make It Better Foundation's good work has already begun," Specht said. "Our slogan is 'Better bread. Better subs. Better day.' and we take it seriously. We believe that as an organization and as individuals, we have the ability and the duty to make it better, every day."
