Burger King's Twitter page is the latest victim of Internet malice, as its page was hacked to appear like McDonald's page. The incident happened earlier this afternoon, when the Burger King logo switched to a McDonald's logo with the post: "McDonalds @BurgerKing. We just got sold to McDonalds! Look for McDonalds in a hood near you @DFNCTSC"
The @DFNCTSC handle has no active tweets. However, according to Gizmodo, it stands for Defonic Team Screen Name Club, and it hacked Paris Hilton's account a couple of years ago.
Notorious Internet hacking organization Anonymous has denied involvement, however it sent out a tweet that read: "We're guessing the @BurgerKing social media team is having a bad day ..."
BK's Twitter page has garnered more than 30,000 new followers since today's breach.
The account has since been suspended after eight total fake "McDonald's" tweets were sent out, including a link to a YouTube video of Chief Keef's "They Know."
The official McDonald's Twitter page has expressed sympathy over the incident, tweeting: "We empathize with our @BurgerKing counterparts. Rest assured, we had nothing to do with the hacking."
