Subway India is sponsoring a charity event called "Pimp My Tuk Tuk." A Tuk Tuk is a three-wheeled scooter used throughout India as taxis. The Pimp My Tuk Tuk event is a week long and features 11 teams riding in customized Tuk Tuks, including one decorated with an Austin Powers theme and one that resembles the Patridge Family bus.
The Tuk Tuk's ride across India to raise money for two organizations — The Singapore Children's Charity and Round Table India.
Starting at a Subway restaurant in Chennai, and with stops at orphanages and schools in Vellore, Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Murudeshwara, to deliver clothes, toys, and school supplies, the Tuk Tuk motorcade makes its final stop at a Subway restaurant in Goa.
The Tuk Tuks, which travel up to 30 mph, typically don't have windows, doors or gas gauges. They are also prone to breaking down and can easily tip over.
